Rant

Amber and I got into a fight with some other girls at the movies on Saturday. Before I tell you about it I just wanted to tell you about something that happened to us last time we went to the movies.

A few months ago Amber and I went to the movies. We were one of the first people in the theater. We sat towards the top in the middle. We had our feet up on the chair in front of us. Some guys came in and sat down right in front of us. There were plenty of open seats in the theater, but they sat in front of us. We were a little frustrated, so we moved down the row to where there was nobody in front of us. Shortly after that some more guys came in and sat down in front of us. Now, the theater was still practically empty. Amber got upset and leaned down to ask them “Are you serious?!”

So this Saturday we were the first ones in the theater. We sat at the very top in the middle. And of course we had out feet on the seat in front of us. The next people to come in the theater sat right in front of us. Well actually they only sat in front of me. Since the theater was empty, I refused to move my feet. When the girl sat down she couldn’t lean all the way back. She turned around to ask “Do you mind?” and I responded “If you don’t like my feet on your chair then maybe you should move.” Do you think she moved? Nope, that’s because she is an idiot.

I know that I shouldn’t have had my feet on the chair, but lets be real, everybody does it. It was rude of them to sit right in front of me. She could have moved just one seat over and everything would have been fine.

So when I refused to remove my feet, she got up to tell someone. I took my feet down and waited until after the usher left. I decided to wait until the previews to put my feet back up. Once the previews started I put my feet back up on her chair. She kept turning around, but I ignored her. She eventually got up again to complain on me. Once again I put my feet back down. Her friend turned around and started mouthing off to us. It was hard to understand her, but she said something like “you need 2 chairs for your fat ass.” She asked if we were 15 since we were acting like it. I told her to shut and turn around, but not in a nice way. Shortly after the girl came back, the manager came to see us and we explained what happened. He told us to see him after the movie and he would give us free passes.

After he left I didn’t put my foot on the chair, but I did place it behind the chair so she couldn’t lean back. You would think that after all that she would just move.

We hadn’t planned on seeing the manager after the movie, but he ended up coming to find us to give us the passes. So yes, I was a bitch, but I got a free movie pass out of it!

Playing catch up

It’s been a while, and honestly I just haven’t felt like blogging. But luckily I’m over that. I don’t think I ever posted picture of last weekend’s cakes. I did this awesome pizza cake for my friend’s brother.

I also made cupcakes and cookies for a baby shower. Somehow I forgot to take a picture of the cookies, but here are the cupcakes.

For St. Patrick’s Day I made chocolate cupcakes with mint icing. I didn’t take any photos since they weren’t decorated. But everyone said they were yummy.

This weekend I had 2 big cakes to make. I had to make a 3 tier Hannah Montana birthday cake and a 3 tier baptism cake. I had never made a cake this big, so I was a little nervous. It wasn’t as big as what I had in my head. But they were HEAVY! I got to use my new disco dust. I ordered hot pink, purple, and rainbow dust. It was so pretty. I’m probably going to use it on everything now!

I used a new technique for the cross on the baptism cake. I bought some clear flower stamps and stamped the fondant. Then I cut out the cross. It turned out really cute.

I also made pink and purple microphone cake pops.

I had to deliver the cakes to the party on Saturday. During the ride the tiers on the cakes came apart. The icing that was in between the layers slipped down. It’s always something…

After I delivered the cakes on Saturday Mom and I went to a place called Empanadas in Irving. It wasn’t what I expected, but it turned out to be pretty tasty. I got a chorizo empanada with potatoes and onions. I also got a guava and cheese empanada that was so yummy.

We drove back to Dallas and went to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. We saw this one dog that just broke my heart. He was so skinny that you could see all the bones in his body. The floor of his kennel was covered in blood spots because his pressure spots kept bleeding. Unfortunately the shelter in not a no kill shelter. I know that nobody will adopt him and he will be out to sleep. It just makes me so sad.

Sunday I woke up to snow. Yes, you heard me. Snow in Texas in March. It was 70 degrees on Friday and then we had snow. It didn’t last long, but it was still pretty crazy. I was going to meet my friends at the mall, but we decided not to go because of the weather. I ended up staying in bed until about 2. When I got up I called Amber and we decided to go to the mall after all.

We went to eat at Luna de Noche. It’s usually really good, but we had a very absent minded waiter. After lunch we went on a hunt for a white dress for the wedding. Unfortunately we didn’t find anything. We headed over to the movie theater after shopping and saw Remember Me. It was so good. I definitely recommend you see it. After the movie we went to Yogurtland. I had never been there before, but I read about it {here}. They had so many flavors if yogurt and so many toppings to choose from. I ended up getting the red velvet cupcake batter with cookie dough bits, Captain Crunch cereal, and Fruity Pepples cereal on top. Oh my it was yummy! I’ve been craving it ever since!!

After not being able to find a white dress for the wedding, Kristin decided that she wants us to wear black dresses. I ordered this dress yesterday. I can’t wait to get it.

I also ordered this bathing suit.

This week I’m working on a saxophone birthday cake, tea party cupcakes, and cupcakes for a New Moon party.

Getting ready for Spring

Friday I did a little shopping while I was out running errands. I stopped by Ulta and saw this lovely eyeshadow.

It has tons of shimmer. I will not wear eyeshadow unless it sparkles, so I can't wait to try it out. I got it in purple.

I also picked up this luminescent complexion enhancer from Benefit. I love their products, and I'm hoping this will give my skin a nice shimmer.

I stopped by Target and had to get this bag. It was only $10!

I also found the perfect pair of sandals. I've been on the lookout for some sandals that will go with everything. I'm tired of just wearing flip flops, but I need something that is comfortable too.

Earlier in the week I got some new dresses from Old Navy and Target. The weather is warming up, so I'm getting ready for spring. I can't wait!

Thursday Nights

Thursday night is elimination night on American Idol. Even though I don’t love every contestant, I know the time will come when one of my favorites gets voted off. It’s always a stressful show. And that's exactly what happened this Thursday. But before I get into that I want to show you my favorites.

Casey James

An obvious favorite, but I really like his voice. If I knew about his band before the show you probably would have seen me at some of the shows. So far I've loved every performance.

Alex Lambert

I just love his voice. It’s so unique and kind of sexy. Can I say that since he is only 20?! Plus I’m routing for him since he hasn’t had a lot of experience, but has such a natural talent. But please Alex….cut the mullet!

Andrew Garcia

Andrew is the best. I love his voice, his look, and the fact that he break dances.

Lee Dewyze

Lilly Scott

She is my favorite girl contestant. I love how she makes each song her own. And she has the most amazing voice.

Crystal Bowersox

And who doesn’t love her?!

Siobhan Magnus

I wasn’t too crazy about her at first, but I’m really starting to like her. And boy can she sing!

Didi Benami

She has a great voice but I’m afraid that she won’t last long.

After Thursday's show I was so upset! I cannot believe that Lilly went home. She is a much stronger and unique singer than most of the girls that stayed. I was just so shocked. Also, I was non too happy about Alex going home. He has the best voice out of all the guys in my opinion. Also, why the hell is Tim Urban still on the show? Ugh!

Thursday night is also America’s Best Dance Crew. This is one of my favorite shows. If I could do anything, it would be join a dance crew (and be good at it). I like every group in the competition, but here are my favorites:

Saltare

They don’t do a lot of dancing, but they are pretty awesome with their jump ropes. Some of the tricks they do are unbelievable.

Heavy Impact

Even though these guys are heavier, they can definitely move!

Poreotix

This group is my absolute favorite. They are always together and have the most amusing routines. I really hope they win this season.

Hype 5-0

I can’t understand why this group has been in the bottom 2 twice. They are one of the best and I really like their style.

Sadly Heavy Impact went home on Thursday's show. But I'm still hopeful that one of these other groups will win the title.

Weekend Roundup

This weekend was just what I needed. Friday night I finished up some baby shower cupcakes. I haven't uploaded the pictures yet, but let me tell you they were so cute!

Saturday I took my Mom out for her birthday surprise. We started the day off getting pedicures at Hollywood Nails. Then we headed over to Mattitos for nachos and margaritas. Boy have I missed mexican food since I've been on my diet! After lunch we headed over to Hotel ZaZa where Mom got a "muscle meltdown" massage. It totally surprised her. I had a couple of drinks downstairs in the bar while she was getting pampered. Then we went to the Cupcakery for some cupcakes.

I felt so tired when we got home, so I took a nap. Later that night I met Kristin and Tom at the Double Wide to see Descender. It's been a while since I went out, so it felt nice to get out of the house. I also enjoyed the show, and I'm looking forward to the album release.

Today was a lazy day. I slept in and ordered pizza for lunch. I caught up on some recorded TV and watched the Oscars. I haven't seen any of the movies that were nominated, so here is my list of movies I need to see:

Crazy Heart
Avatar
Julie and Julia
Hurt Locker

Sometimes I think about getting Netflix, but then I realize I never have time to sit down for 2 hours uninterrupted to watch the movies.

Flavor of the month

This month is dedicated to Casey James. I'm sure it comes as no surprise. But what can I say? I love the long hair, the beautiful smile, the voice, and the fact that he is from DFW. I hope he stays in the competition for a looonnnggg time (not just because he is yummy, but also because he can sing). In case you didn't know, he is one of the contestants on American Idol.

Who needs sleep?

Wow, February was a crazy month. I was so busy with cakes that I barely had time for anything else. I ended up making something like 8 cakes, 8 dozen cupcakes, 100 rice crispy treats, and 140 cake pops. Like I said…WOW!

This past weekend was super busy for me. I didn’t have to work Friday, so I planned on baking all day. But I ended up sleeping in later than I had wanted to. Then I had to run some errands and didn’t get home until around 4. Since I had to work on Saturday, I had to get a lot done that night.

The first cake I had to make was for a Wizards of Waverly Place birthday party. I iced the cakes and covered them in fondant. Halfway through decorating them I had to get up and do something else. When I came back to the cake it had grown a massive tumor. At first I thought it was an air bubble, but then I realized the bubble was full of icing. The only thing I can think of is the icing melted and slid down the cake. I tried to smooth it out, but when the icing slid down the cake it stretched out the fondant. I started to panic because I didn’t have enough fondant to re-cover the cake. I ended up putting a pink square of fondant over the mess up. I tried to fix it the best I could. Even though the cake stressed me out, it turned out super cute.

I also had to make goodies for my cousin Brain’s housewarming party. Brian and his wife Chelsea just bought a new house, and Chelsea’s favorite colors were blue and brown. I made a lemon raspberry cake, vanilla cupcakes, and strawberry cake pops.

I went to the party after work on Saturday and everything was a big hit. I probably handed out most of my cards! Their house is super cute. I can’t wait to see it all decorated.

Friday night I ended up going to bed around 3:30. I had to get up at 7 the next morning for work. After work I went to the housewarming party and got home around 9. Since I had more cakes to make that night I decided to take a 2 hour nap. I got up at 11 and worked until almost 5 in the morning.

Brian’s older brother Ronnie was throwing a party for his son’s Paxton 1st birthday. It was a rock star theme so I incorporated that into the cakes. I made a chocolate peanut butter cake and a small smash cake for Paxton. This was the first time I used wire to make the letters stand up. I think it turned out super cute.

Victoria (Paxton’s mom) sent me a picture of Paxton’s shirt that inspired the theme. I tried to make the guitar look like the one on the shirt.

She also ordered cake pops for the party. She wanted them to look like microphones. I made round cake pops and used fondant icing to make the pattern on the top. Then I painted the top with silver luster dust. For the handle I used modeling chocolate. I had never used it before, but it worked real well. I was pretty impressed with the cake pops, but the icing didn’t dry hard, so when I put them in the bags they smeared.

The birthday party was on Sunday. After going to bed at 5am, I had to get up at 9 on Sunday to finish up everything. We got home from the party around 5. I tried to stay up for a while, but ended up going to bed at 7pm. I don’t think I will do that many cakes in one weekend again. As much as I love baking I also want to start doing more crafts. Next on my list is learning how to crochet.

This week I have a baby shower to work on. I am making the duck cupcakes again, but changing it up a little. I’m really anxious to see how they turn out.

Saturday I am taking my mom out for her birthday. I have a super secret day planned and I can’t wait! Speaking of birthday, I can now post a picture of the necklace I got for my best friend’s birthday. She wanted a necklace with her daughters’ initials on it. So it’s W for Willa and E for Elora. They also have the same birthstone.
