Just 2 more days...

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I can’t believe it’s already here. This year, it doesn’t really feel like Christmas. Today it’s 70 degrees. I think tomorrow it’s going to be closer to 40 degrees. I finished all my shopping and baking (thank goodness).

I’ve been baking all week. I made Christmas rice crispy treats last Wednesday, Santa hat cake pops Friday, more rice crispy treats on Monday, red velvet cupcakes Tuesday, and Oreo cupcakes Wednesday. On top of all that Mom made chocolate covered peanuts, chocolate covered pretzels, peppermint bark, toffee, and Ritz crackers with peanut butter in the middle covered in chocolate. I’m giving out little goody bags full of homemade candy at work.

Tuesday was our pot luck dinner at work. We had El Finex catered in. I made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing. I colored the icing green and used my new fondant cutter to cut out the snowflakes. Then I added edible glitter to the snowflakes, They turned out real pretty, but I wasn’t too crazy about the icing. I made some pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese icing a while ago and the icing was perfect. But I couldn’t get the icing to taste the same this time.

We did secret Santa at work and I made Oreo cupcakes as my present. The recipe said it would make 12 cupcakes. When I put the batter in the pan, I had quite a bit left over. Mom suggested that we fill the cups up. After they were in the oven for a while I looked at them and the batter had overflowed and spread over the entire pan. They ended up looking like giant mushrooms! Now we know better :)

The rice crispy treats I made turned out real cute. I didn’t get any good pictures because my camera needed to be charged. But you get the idea.

Next year I want to try to make these cupcakes

As much as I can’t wait till Christmas, I’m always sad to see it go. All this planning and cooking and buying and then it’s all over in a couple of hours. But it’s still my favorite time of the year. I decorated my desk at work. Here is what it looks like:

I made the stocking myself!

I think Riley likes it as well. She has been trying to open up the presents under the tree. We have to keep a look out since she has opened a couple already J We took the doggies to get holiday pictures done a few weeks ago. I think they turned out super cute!

Kristin and Tom got their Christmas gift early. Willa was born on December 4th. She was born with a tumor on her lower back, but the doctors were able to remove it successfully. She has been in ICU since she was born and nobody has got to see her yet (except parents and grandparents). Kristin has been posting pictures and she is just the cutest thing! She has the cutest lips too. Here are a few of my favorites:

We are still waiting for her to come home, and I can’t wait to see her!

Tomorrow will be a short day at work. Then I have to come home and get the house ready for Christmas. We are having Christmas at our house this year, so I’m pretty excited about that. And I can’t wait to open all my presents!
Here are some random (and cute) pictures of Riley.
