Daddy

Since today is Father's Day, I wanted to pay tribute to my Dad. Looking back, I can't ever remember celebrating Father's Day. I'm sure I did, but I haven't in the past 14 years.
My Dad was the best. I was definitely a daddy's girl growing up. He could do no wrong. I remember he used to always make me laugh. When we would go out to eat Mexican food, he would pretend to pass gas and I would laugh till I cried. I'm sure we really embarrassed Mom.
I remember he would take off his socks at night, roll them up, and try to hit me with them as I ran back and forth through the living room. I know for sure that Mom hated that. We used to get yelled at all the time, but it didn't stop us.
I remember looking up to my Dad. He was the coolest person I knew, and I felt like he could do anything. He could jump fences, scare people with his driving, build things, and he had a way with people. He never met a stranger, and he was the best story teller.
There are a lot of things I miss. And there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him. I wish he could have been around long enough to see the person I've become. If he was still around I imagine we would sit around talking about music, laughing and drinking beer together. I just wish I could tell him how much I love him and how much he meant to me and give him a hug just one last time.
So this day is for my Daddy. I am who I am because of him, and I am forever grateful for that. I love you Daddy!

Chloe

Today was a sad day for me. I've been trying to find Chloe a new home, but I've had no luck. I wanted to find her a home, but nobody had answered my ads. I tried to surrender her to a rescue group, but no one would take her. And I just couldn't stand the thought of her in a shelter.
But Saturday I got a phone call from a lady looking for a cat. Her mother lived with her and her husband, and the mother had early stages of Alzheimer's. Her father had passed away a couple of months ago, so they wanted to get the mom a cat. They wanted an older cat that was declawed.
They came over today to see Chloe. They loved her and decided to take her. I was ok until I came back up to my apt. and closed the door. Then I couldn't stop crying. It just all happened so fast. I really loved Chloe, and I didn't want to give her up, but I just felt like I couldn't live with her peeing in my room.
I know that family will give her a loving home. And I hope she does well for them. So in memory of the 7 months I spent with Chloe, here are some pictures...

Celebration

Well, work has been going good. I really like all the people I work with, and it's real laid back. And I've already volunteered to start baking :) There were 2 birthdays in one week. I made chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing and strawberry cake pops. They were both yummy. I really liked how the cupcakes came out.

There is another birthday in July, so I'm going to try to make zebra print cupcakes. We will see how they turn out.

Last Sunday Riley graduated from puppy class. They had some contests and she won the fastest dog. She got to wear a graduation hat and eat ice cream. It was really cute. Mom & Roxie, Aunt Lana, and Debbie came to see all the festivities.

Riley got ice cream in her whiskers.

I'm glad the class is over. Now I can have my Sundays all to myself again :)

A couple of weeks ago I ordered the new Modest Mouse 7 inch single "Satellite Skin". Apparently my mailman decided that he wanted to shove it in my mailbox, so now I'm the owner of a bent limited edition record. I went back online to order another one, but they were sold out. Luckily I found one on Amazon, but it was more than double the price. I went to the post office today to file a complaint, but they wouldn't let me. They said that the person who sent it was at fault since the package didn't say "do not bend". I'm pissed, but there's not much I can do about it.

Yesterday I took Riley to get her first haircut. She was starting to look like a crazy homeless person, so something had to be done. Now she looks like a totally different dog! I find myself staring at her cause she looks so different. She looks so cute though.

Funny

I'm back!

So, what have I been up to? A lot!

First off, I finally got a job. It was the only place that even called me back for an interview. I'm currently working at a call center. I get to wear jeans and come in at 9:30am, so it's not too bad. But I also don't get any benefits or paid vacation and I have to work on Saturdays.

Now that I'm back at work, I do miss my time off. I've had to get used to getting up early again. And Riley has had to get used to staying in the kennel while I'm at work.

Riley is getting so big. She is 5 months old now and weighs 7lbs. She is getting to be such a big girl. Now she can jump on and off the couch, run up and down the stairs, and play fetch. And she is doing so well in puppy class. She can sit, lay down, stay, roll over, and shake. This Sunday she graduates from class. She will get to wear a graduation hat, get a certificate, and eat ice cream. It's going to be so cute!

Since my last few posts, it seems there has been an outbreak of ringworm in my home. Riley now has 3 ringworms. I have to give her meds every day and give her a medicated bath twice a week. I now have 8 ringworms! They don't really bother me, but I wish they would go away. I have no idea who gave it to who or where we got them.

A couple of weeks ago I got bit by mosquitoes. I quickly learned that I'm allergic. I had 10 swollen mosquito bites on my legs and feet. It was horrible. The picture doesn't do it justice, but it shows how big they got.

So lately I've been super careful when I'm outside. I now carry a small bug spray with me. I've also been careful about the sun. I bought a lotion that has spf 15 and a face lotion that has spf 30. I have to protect this milky white skin :)

Last Monday Kristin and I went to see Gavin Rossdale in concert. It was so awesome. That man is so damn beautiful. We got pretty close to the stage. Close enough to see the sweat drip off him. He played Machine Head, Glycerine, Everything Zen, Chemicals Between Us, and he did an acoustic version of Landslide. Oh Gavin.....

Saturday Amber and I went over to Kristin's to swim. She has the best pool cause it's 8ft deep and there aren't a lot of kids around. We had a lot of fun and got to test out my new waterproof camera.

After we went swimming, Amber and I went to the No Doubt concert. It was sold out, so the lawn was packed. Luckily we found a good spot at the top. It was an awesome show. They played all the hits: Just a Girl, Don't Speak, Rock Steady, Hella Good, Sunday Morning, Spiderwebs, and many more.

On May 17 Mom and I went to see Don Henley at Winstar. That was a lot of fun. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant and gambled a little. Mom won $25 on a penny machine. I've been in love with Don Henley since I was a little girl, so I was super excited to see him. He played Hotel California, Boys of Summer, Dirty Laundry, All She Wants to do is Dance, and Desperado. I didn't get to take any pictures at that concert :(

And lastly, 2 of my friends are pregnant! Kristin and Chelsey will be expecting babies in December. Congrats to them!!
