Monday blues

This weekend was the first weekend I've had off in a long time. We started rotating who works every Saturday at work. I had plans to get lots done, but unfortunately that didn't happen.
I did manage to scrapbook. It's been forever since I'd had a chance to sit down and scrapbook. I have been buying supplies frequently and I ended up with a bunch of stickers!

Here are a few of the pages I did:

Saturday I wanted to sleep in, but I knew I couldn't. I woke up in a bad mood and I couldn't seem to shake it. Mom and I went to the cake store to pick up a few things. Then we went to the tailor so I could get my jeans hemmed. I wanted to go to the scrapbook store next door, but it was gone. It had gone out of business. Now I don't know of any scrapbook stores in the Dallas area. After all that we went to eat at Texas Land & Cattle. I had a nice juicy steak. I also ate a spicy Cesar salad. We ran a few more errands and then headed home.

I had planned on getting a lot of baking and prep work done for the upcoming week. But all I managed to do was make these super cute duck toppers. They took a lot of time to make, but I was very proud of them.

Tonight I came home and made cake pops for a friend at work. I got real frustrated because all the cake pops cracked after I had decorated them. I don't know if they were too cold and the warm chocolate made it crack or if the cake pop god hates me. I also baked some cupcakes for an order on Wed. and they look burnt. I know that they aren't, but the bottom of the paper liner is black. Mom keeps telling me that doesn't look good, so I will probably have to make them again. Right now I don't care how they look, but that's just because I'm in a fowl mood. I already have to bake 1 or 2 cakes tomorrow and make icing and fondant toppers, so I really don't need the added work.

Since I'm not in a happy mood, I think I will crawl into bed and go to sleep. Plus my little toes feel frozen! But before I go, here are a few pictures of Buttercup that I snapped this weekend:

Love it!

Valentines Day is coming up and I want this cute little heart dress. Isn't it lovely?!

Tonight

Tonight starts the final season of Lost.

Will they answers our questions? Probably not

Will we be even more confused? Most likely

Am I excited? Heck yes!!

I can't wait to see these 2 hunks :)

Flavor of the month

This month I'd like to dedicate to Matthew Gray Gubler. He plays Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds.

Eat Cake

Last week I made my first cake covered in fondant. I've watched Ace of Cakes and Cake Boss like crazy, so I figured I could do it. It was a lot easier than I thought. Of course it wasn't super easy. I made the cake for a little girl's 1st birthday. I had to sculpt a figure of Hello Kitty for the cake. I had also never done that before. The first figure I made didn't look right. This is the second figure I made. She ended up being a little heavy, so when I placed her on the cake she started to lean back. But I thought she was pretty good for my first sculpture.

The following week I made two birthday cakes. The first one I made was for my supervisor at work. I used blue and brown colors to make it more 'manly'. The paisley was made out of chocolate molds. This cake was my first multi-tier cake. After covering the cakes in fondant they were still pretty soft. I finally figured that if I put them in the fridge for a while, it will harden up. Which make it easier to move around. I made the top tier lemon cake with raspberry icing, and the bottom tier is chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. Both were super yummy!

The second cake I made that week for was a co-worker's mother's birthday. It was a chocolate cake with buttercream icing. This cake turned out so pretty. I added a shimmer to the flowers to make them stand out. This is definitely one of my favorite cakes.

I used a filter on this picture. I liked how it made the cake look vintage.

I have a super busy week of baking coming up the second week of Feb. This week I have to do a lot of planning and preparing so I don't get too stressed out.

Last night I went out for drinks with Chelsey. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings and I had a yummy wild berry margarita. It had been a while since I had been out for drinks, so it was nice. It makes me remember that I like going out for drinks and I should do it more often :)

I found out not too long ago that Kristin is having her wedding in Vegas this May. I'm super excited! I absolutely love Vegas. I'm thinking about flying out a day early and trying to catch Love. The tickets are about $150, but I think it will be so worth it. I'm also excited about taking my new camera. I'm sure I will come home with tons of photos!

Movie Date

I have a movie date with Kristin to go see New Moon tonight. I've already seen it, but I've been dying to go see it again. Kristin hasn't seen it yet, so this will be exciting!

Party Time Pink

Well I finally got to go see sweet little Willa. She is just the cutest! I wanna steal her away and snuggle :)

The week after I saw Will, Lillyanna was born. Luckily I got to see her right away.

Speaking of babies, my latest order was for a baby shower. I made sugar cookie party favors and vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing. I think the colors turned out super cute, don't you?

My next two orders are a Hello Kitty cake and Mario Bro. theme cupcakes. I'm really going to have to practice for those :)

This past Saturday was Riley's 1st birthday. I wanted to throw her a little party, but decided against it since all my friends have big dogs. But I did make her a cake. The ingredients in the cake were flour, paenut butter, carrots, and honey. The icing was cinnomin, honey, and cream cheese. The dogs sure did like that!

Yum yum yum

You can see Roxie in the background licking the floor :)

I was going to get her a handmade name tag for her collar, but they Etsy store was closed so they could catch up from the holidays. Looks like I will just have to order it later on.

I've been thinking about dying the tips of my hair pink for a while now. I was a little chicken to do it cause I didn't know how my bosses would react. But I finally got up the nerve and bought some pink dye Friday. Over the weekend Mom helped me color my hair. It's not as bright as I had wanted, and I had to apply it twice to make it darker. But I love it. I will probably keep it for a couple of weeks and then go get a hair cut. Here is a picture I snapped right before bed.
