Party time

I was planning on getting plenty of rest this weekend, but that didn’t happen. Even though I had a busy weekend, I definitely had fun!

Saturday I spent all day trying to clean. I didn’t get very much done, but I did manage to clean the kitchen and bathroom. Those were both a disaster.

Sunday I went shopping with Lizeth. She had to pick up a present for her mom and return some stuff. We went to Northpark (my favorite mall!) We ate at Tin Star. I have never eaten there before. It was yummy. We went to Sephora and I bought some HD powder. I had heard about it before, but have never seen it. It’s a translucent powder that covers up shine and impurities. I love it. And it makes my face feel so smooth. I also bought a new shirt, cardigan, panties, and a necklace. I need to stop spending money. Since I went on a shopping spree the last 2 pay periods, I now don’t have enough money to go to Canton. But that’s ok because it’s getting so hot outside. I guess I will have to go in the fall.

After shopping all day, Lizeth dropped me off at home. I changed and Kristin came to pick me up. We went to Lizeth’s for her mom’s birthday party. Rex cooked pig and crawfish. I had never seen crawfish in person, and they are so disgusting. They look like giant bugs. And there bodies pop as you break them open. I couldn’t watch people eat them cause it made me sick to my stomach. Bleh! Lizeth’s friend Christine came over and kept us entertained by acting very strange. Lizeth’s brother, Hugo, and his girlfriend Tina came. Jake didn’t show up till midnight. Kristin had to leave at 10 to pick up E-lo. I didn’t want to leave, so I said I would catch a ride with someone. I told Hugo I would ride with him since he lives just down the street from me. I didn’t end up leaving the party until around 1am.

Monday I slept until 11 and then got up and got ready. I stopped by Uncle Larry’s for a while. They were cooking tacos and swimming. I left there around 2 and headed to The Grapevine for Keith’s birthday / Joey’s going away party. I was the first one there, so I had to wait. Finally everyone showed up. I had so much fun! I took so many pictures that I filled up my memory and run down my batteries! I didn’t leave until 10pm. I was so tired when I got home, so I passed out.

I did not want to get out of bed this morning. It’s been all dark and gloomy. That is stay in bed weather! After work I met Mom at Chipotle. Then I went home and did laundry and watched Dr. Phil. Is it the weekend yet?!

Project 1 ~ Complete!

Well, I finished my first project today. Below is my very own earring holder. I took an open back frame and painted it black. After it dried, I cut out a piece of screen and attached it to the back with a staple gun. FYI...staple guns are scary and loud. There were a few places where the staples went through the wood, so I had to do some touch up painting. Then I put a hanger on the back. That was the most difficult part. How are supposed to hammer those tiny nails? But I did it. After putting my earrings on it, I realized that I don't have as many earrings as I thought. So I guess I need to go buy some more! Also, I can only put earrings with no backs on here, so my others are still in my jewelry box. But all in all, I'm proud of it!

I wanted to show you my new jewelry holder. I've been wanting this for a while, but never got around to buying it. I wanted the white one originally, but when I saw the pink one, I had to have it. Right now it holds all my gold jewelry. I used to hate gold, but now I'm starting to get into it.

Birthday Cupcakes

I made cupcakes for Keith's birthday. He loves red velvet cupcakes, so I made them without the red food coloring. I didn't want the red to clash with all the bright colors. Then I made buttercream icing to put on top. I wanted it to be electric blue, but it turned out more light blue.
I've never used fondant before, but it wasn't too tricky. I bought the pre-colored fondant. It took me forever to cut out all the flowers and put luster dust on them. That was probably the most time consuming part. I was really happy with how they turned out. They were a big hit at work.

Joey's going away party in Monday, so I might try to make something for that. I was thinking either lemon cupcakes or chocolate with peanut butter icing. I will probably do whatever is easiest.

I'm also going to make a cake for German's birthday next weekend. I decided to to a cherry amaretto cake. And after talking to Becca, I've decided to try ganache. Hopefully it will turn out good. Too bad Becca isn't here to help me make it.

Today I started on my earring holder. I just finished painting it, so now I'm letting it dry. Hopefully I will have it done by the end of the day. I'm also cleaning house. I haven't done much because it all seems so overwhelming. So I need to get off here and get busy!

Just in case you doubted me

Here is proof that the Mexicans love me. This is what I received a couple of weeks ago when I went to eat at The Bronx.

Weekend Roundup

Thursday night I went over to Mom's and had a Lost marathon. I had missed 3 episodes, so I needed to catch up. That show is so addicting!! I didn't get home till after 1am.

Friday I was so tired. I just wanted to go home and crawl back in bed. I thought about calling in to The Bronx, but I decided to tough it out. When I got to work, I found out that there was going to be a party of 20 on the back patio. I was scheduled in D and Brady was scheduled in E (the back patio). Well Brady said he wasn't coming in since he had E. So that meant that I had that party. But at 5:30, Brady came strolling in. There was no point in me being there, so I left. Kristin texted me on my way home asking if I wanted to hang out. I came home, jumped in the shower and got ready. We went to a little Mexican restaurant by my house called Maya. It was real good. I ended up getting pretty tipsy off just one drink. By the time I got home, I was ready for bed. Amanda had wanted me to come to a party with her, but I passed out at 9:45.

It felt so good to sleep in on Saturday. I left my house around 1 and headed out to Richardson. I went to cake carousel for some baking supplies. Keith and German's birthdays are coming up, so I want to bake for them. Keith likes red velvet cake, so I'm wondering if I can make it without it being red. Maybe just skip the food coloring? I don't know. After I left there, I went to Northpark. I bought a pink tree necklace holder and a necklace from Urban. I bought 2 dresses and 3 shirts at Macys. I also bought some jewelry from Forever 21. Then I went to Michael's to buy some cake stuff. I bought a lot, but now I should be stocked up! Afterwards I stopped by Mom's to show her what I bought. Then I went to Lowes to return something for Mom and buy what I needed to make my earring holder. While I was there I looked around at the flowers. I think I want to get some succulents, a hanging basket of flowers, and a flower holder that hangs over my balcony. I also want an orchid for inside. I can't wait to start buying flowers! And before I went home I stopped by Uncle Larry's to pick up his staple gun. Then I went home to be lazy.

Orchids

Succulents

Today I had to work. It wasn't too busy, but I made a little money. After work I went to El Finex for Steven's graduation dinner. I can't believe he is already 18. It seems just like yesterday me and him were playing foozball together. I wish I got to see the guys more. Now everybody has their own thing going on, and I don't feel as close to them, even though I consider them my cousins. After leaving there, I went down the street to Posados to see Chelsey. A bunch of kitchen guys that used to work there and then quit, were back again. And they all remembered me. One of them told me that they missed me. I do love my Mexicans! And they love me! David and Raul, the kitchen managers, came out to talk to me for a while. I was surprised that Raul even remembered me. I finally left there and came home. I did some laundry and dreamt of bed.

Blue

I had every intention of working out today, but baking cupcakes took up my whole night. Tomorrow is my co-worker's birthday, so I wanted to bake her something. I found the idea on the Martha Stewart website. The cupcakes were supposed to look like this:

But instead they came out like this:

But they aren't bad. Let's consider it practice. I blame it mostly on the gel decorations. FYI...gel never does what you want it to. Stick to icing. I thought about making icing, but I decided that it would take too much time and effort. I made the heads out of gum drops. The only ones I could find said Spice Gumdrops on the bag. So I'm sure they taste horrible. I used pipe cleaner for the antennas. My advice: don't eat the heads.
I licked the blue icing off the knife and later discovered that my tongue looked like this. I tried brushing it, but my tongue is still blue. Hopefully it will fade away tomorrow. But it's not like I go sticking my tongue out all day.
