Memorial Day

This Memorial Day I went over to my uncle's for a little cookout and swimming. After years of working retail and the service industry I'm pretty used to not having off on holidays. This year I was lucky because I only had to work the night shift. So we headed over to my uncle's around 11am. I spent time relaxing in the pool and ate a yummy burger before I had to head out.

When I got home I quickly discovered that sunscreen was no match for this Texas sun. Now I am in almost unbearable pain. Working that night was no fun with this burn, but luckily I had today off. I'm hoping for a swift recovery!

Good days/ Bad days

Some days are good, really good. And yesterday was one of those days. I woke up early and took the dogs over to my friend's house. We went for a walk and had a good workout. I felt so good afterwards, and I was very proud of myself (you would be too if you know me). After our walk I came home and ate a yummy lunch. I was inspired to make awesome sandwiches and wraps thanks to a recent issue of Whole Living. I decided to try a wrap for the first time. I took a whole wheat tortilla and added hummus, roasted garlic cheese, and turkey. So good!

Once I got cleaned up I headed back out again. I stopped at Good Records to pick up the new Fleet Foxes album. I ended up getting a few 45s as well. Buying records makes me so happy. Then I drove to Plano to pick up a harness for Riley. She not a fan of harnesses, but it makes walking her a lot easier.

I was tired when I got home, so I laid down for a quick nap. Then I woke up and headed over to my friend's for taco night. Like I said, it was a glorious day.

Unfortunately today was not the same. My workout plans got cancelled and everything went downhill from there. It seems like I've been on the verge of tears all day, and I'm not sure why. But the entire day wasn't a bust. I did make the super cute cupcakes pictured above. I also picked up the new Sookie Stackhouse book. I cannot wait to read it! I wasn't too happy with the last book, so I'm hoping this book makes up for the last one. If you haven't read the Sookie Stackhouse series I definitely recommend it.

On a side note I wanted to tell you about my new favorite band. I saw this post on Liz's blog and decided to check out The Head and the Heart. I immediately fell in love with them and downloaded their album. Today I've been alternating between them and Fleet Foxes. I dream of a shady back yard with a hammock when I listen to them. So you should check them out :)
